The members of BTS now carry diplomatic passports after South Korean President Moon Jae-in appointed the K-pop group as “special envoy for public diplomacy.”
South Korean entertainment website, Soompi.com reported that Blue House spokesperson Park Kyung Mi revealed that the BTS boys – RM, Jungkook, Jimin, Suga, J-Hope and V have been appointed by the president as “Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture”.
It was made clear that their appointment as special envoys is part of the South Korean government’s initiative expand their diplomatic horizons.
They were also gifted with the Republic of Korea’s diplomatic passports and fountain pens from the Blue House.
The K-pop stars are reported to attend the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 14.
This will be the group’s third time attending the UN General Assembly. It was in 2018 when BTS gave an address for UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited at the 73rd assembly.
