Iñigo Pascual scores his first international acting stint and as part of the lead cast at that!
The Filipino actor and singer has “joined the cast of Fox’supcoming musical drama Monarch in a leading role,” the US entertainment news outlet Deadline announced on Thursday.
Described in the report as a “Hollywood newcomer,” Iñigo will be starring alongside Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon, Albie Roman, Anna Friel, Trace Adkins and Beth Ditto, the report added.
The Kapamilya actor, who just turned 24 on September 14, also shared the news on his Instagram, saying: “The news is out…Craziest birthday. Sorry for keeping it for so long.”
As per Deadline, Monarch, which is created by Melissa London Hilfers, is a “Texas-sized, multigenerational musical drama about America’s first family of country music, the Romans. The Romans are headed by the insanely talented, but tough as nails Queen of Country Music Dottie Cantrell Roman (Sarandon).
“Along with her beloved husband, Albie (Adkins), Dottie has created a country music dynasty. But even though the Roman name is synonymous with authenticity, the very foundation of their success is a lie. And when their reign as country royalty is put in jeopardy, heir to the crown Nicolette ‘Nicky’ Roman (Friel) will stop at nothing to protect her family’s legacy, while ensuring her own quest for stardom.”
Iñigo is set to play the talented 18-year-old Ace Grayson, who was adopted from an orphanage by Nicky (Friel) and her husband Clive.
“He’s a phenomenal singer with real swagger on stage, and dreams of being a country star like his Grandpa Albie, but in spite of being part of a golden family, his path to success has some challenges,” Deadline described his character.
The show will debut on Fox on Jan. 30, 2022 after the NFC Championship game, with the second episode airing on Feb. 1.
According to ABS-CBN’s Star Magic, Inigo’s talent management team along with Cornerstone, the actor is currently in the United States.
Inigo recently released his sophomore album Options under ABS-CBN Music’s Tarsier Records, which is also his first international album.
In an interview with The STAR last July, the son of seasoned actor Piolo Pascual, who lived in the States for 10 years before moving to Philippines to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, said he’d like to also have an international showbiz career someday.
“Definitely, it’s part of my goals,” he said.
